We don't have a whiteboard, so this will have to do.

An obvious first question is, "Why does this site need to exist?" My answer is that I haven't found an equivalent I'm satisfied with. Reddit is focused on "what I've read," the Mars Society is focused on one idea, Mars Direct. If there's a place that does what I want to do, I haven't found it. I want to put together a roadmap to Mars--not based on a preconceived idea, but rather on what people with resources are saying they're going to do.

I'm not a SpaceX fan-boy, but I am realistic. SpaceX is the only organization starting with the premise "We are going to do this." Everyone else is starting with, "We think this is what should be done; we just need the resources." That's two steps removed from "Do it"--convince the other person your idea is correct; then they convince their colleagues to grant you the resources. From that perspective, any SpaceX plan has more chance of succeeding than anyone else's.

I look forward to New Origins, Bigelow Aerospace, and others becoming part of this plan. In the meantime, I'll write about whoever's in the lead.
